This year’s top trends look to luxe materials, cool hues and individual creativity.
It’s easy being green
Pantone renewed our love affair with the spring’s freshest shade when it crowned Greenery the colour of the year. A zesty yellow-green shade, it is sublime with ice white, slate grey and sister citrus colours. If a paint treatment feels too overwhelming, work in accents in bold patterns like chevron or ikat on cushions, curtains and knotted rugs. As Summer has gone, opt for a darker green as a gateway to autumn’s rich jewel tones. We love bottle green glass with brass details in vases, trinket jars and bowls. To really commit to the shade, plump for this Mini O green marble side table with brass or steel legs (€495.00).
Once consigned to bathroom tiles and kitchen islands, marble has firmly established its dominance throughout our interiors, appearing everywhere from pencil jars to trays. This season sees details like copper, brass, mirror and steel added to the mix to up the luxe factor further. Practical as well as pretty, marble tin boxes are perfect for stylish storage (€34.00). If you want to stand out from the crowd, look to eye-catching accessories such as Kristina Dam’s Double Moon sculpture (€365.00).
The light show
Lighting steps up a gear this season and it’s an easy way to carve a signature scheme. Stringing a series of pendant lights in varying sizes at different heights is one such method. Let the material do the talking with Rubn’s lanterns (from €171) – mix up the sizes for maximum impact and also go for an uneven number. Lighting is a way of bringing colour into a room without feeling too restricted. The Ballroom glass globes by Design By Us (€241.00-€537.00) come in five shades to mix and match as you wish. Try one of each or perhaps a single rose pink with a purple pair- singularly stunning.
